Mr. Newman, a graduate of Cornell University and the University of Miami School of Law has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1982. His formative years as an attorney were spent at the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office where he was rapidly promoted to the Major Crimes/Homicide Unit. Mr. Newman prosecuted several extremely high-profile First-Degree Murder cases which resulted in convictions and life sentences. Mr. Newman also prosecuted Robberies, Aggravated Batteries and Assaults, Possession of Firearms, Drug Trafficking, Sexual Batteries, and many other serious crimes. He developed an outstanding reputation for his ethics, professionalism, preparedness, organization skills and as a formidable trial attorney.
Mr. Newman later spent seventeen years as a prosecutor at the Broward County State Attorney’s Office. There, he specialized in the Domestic Violence Unit prosecuting numerous Attempted First and Second-Degree Murders, Aggravated Batteries and Assaults and other violent crimes. Again, Mr. Newman established a reputation among judges and defense attorneys for fairness, good judgment, ethics, and for his skills in the courtroom.
Mr. Newman was recently invited to be Of Counsel to the prominent law firm of Perlet & Shiner. He is working closely with the firm using his twenty-six years of prosecutorial experience on behalf of clients by preparing for trials and going to trial when necessary, on the firm’s more difficult and complex cases.
