Woman With Bag “Definitely Not … Full Of Drugs” Arrested On Drug Charges

Gavel_scales

In mid-January 2025, a woman was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia after the car she was riding in was pulled over. Brevard County law enforcement found methamphetamine in the woman’s bag, which bore the legend “Definitely Not A Bag Full Of Drugs.” This was the woman’s second alleged offense in two weeks, and she now faces more serious charges than she did previously.

A Previous Arrest

According to records, the woman had been arrested on January 6, 2025 and charged with methamphetamine trafficking, but she had been allowed to bond out of jail two days later. About two weeks later, she was a passenger in a car that was pulled over, and made the mistake of having drugs and drug paraphernalia on her person. She was charged with possession of that paraphernalia, as well as with possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell.

While possession of drugs is a serious charge in Florida, possession with intent to sell (PITS) is even more so. Sometimes, the charge is used as a threat of sorts, able to be dropped if an appropriate plea bargain is worked out – but sometimes, law enforcement will choose to prosecute someone if they truly believe that intent to sell exists. Most drug crimes are seen as a crime against society, and are prosecuted aggressively.

Strict Sentences

Florida’s law enforcement community takes drug crimes very seriously, and if you have been charged with possession – either with intent to sell, or simply to possess – it is crucial to take the charges just as seriously. Florida’s sentencing guidelines are some of the toughest in the U.S., requiring jail time even for first offenders. It also retains mandatory minimum sentences, meaning that conviction of any drug felony will result in at least three years behind bars.

If you ever find yourself in a situation similar to this woman’s, the smartest thing to do is to say nothing and immediately enlist an experienced attorney. It is not out of the realm of possibility that your attorney may be able to get one or more charges dropped, but if they cannot, they can at least protect your rights during the legal process.

Call A West Palm Beach Drug Offenses Attorney

It remains to be seen what the woman’s ultimate sentence – if any – will be, but it is a good idea to remember that being out on bond is not a ‘get out of jail free’ card, and that illegal drugs are seen as dangerous to society, not only to the one who uses them.
